UFC will show five UFN 24 fights on Facebook

Dana White says the future of sports viewing is on the Internet. The UFC must feel great about its recent Facebook broadcasts because for Ultimate Fight Night 24 this Saturday in Seattle, it's expanding the coverage on the social networking site.

Viewers will see at least four bouts on Spike (10 p.m. ET/PT), but with a deep card, there was a good chance avid fans of MMA were getting shutout of watching some excellent matchups on the eight-fight non-televised undercard. The promotion has gone a long way in trying to deliver those fights by promising to show five of them on the Ultimate Fighting Championship Facebook page (7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT).

Alex "Bruce Leroy" Caceres vs. Mackens Semerzier
Jon Madsen vs. Mike Russow
John Hathaway vs. Kris McCray
Michael McDonald vs. Edwin Figueroa
Sean McCorkle vs. Christian Morecraft

The UFC began showing undercard fights on Facebook at Fight for the Troops 2 in January. It was a smart move by the promotion. The free view on Facebook is a great way to build interest in young fighters. The cost certainly has to be minimal in comparison to carving out a three or four hour block on television.

At Bellator 38 on Saturday night, Rich Hale became the second fight in the Bellator cage to submit someone with an inverted triangle choke when he utilized the hold against Nik Fakete in the opening round of Bellator's light heavyweight tournament. Toby Imada famously pulled it off in Bellator's first season, and you can add Hale's name to the list of those pulling off that unique submission. Check it out below:

Jon Jones, trainers halt robber in New Jersey hours before UFC 128 title fight

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

Jon_Jones_180_9.jpeg
Hours before the biggest fight in his young mixed martial arts career, Jon "Bones" Jones and his trainers Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn subdued a robber in northern New Jersey.

The three were en route to a waterfall to meditate when they noticed a man breaking into a car and stealing items from the vehicle. They yelled at the man and he took off running, and all three ran after him. Jones caught up to him first, and according to Jackson in comments made to Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole, Jones "foot swept" the man to get him to the ground.

Jackson then caught up to the two, and when the man tried to get back up, Jackson took him down with a double leg takedown. Jackson applied an armbar on the man, Winkeljohn went after the other arm to make sure the man didn't have a weapon and then shortly thereafter the police arrived to take the man into custody. Here's Jackson talking about the incident:

(App Users Click Here For Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y434R0VWV9Q )

Jones meets Mauricio "Shogun" Rua tonight at UFC 128 in New Jersey for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.

Penick's Analysis: This is another cool story of MMA training coming into play in a real life situation, and it's an even more interesting story with it being Jones who caught up to the guy and initially got him to the ground. I guess the lesson here is, if you're going to try to break into a car, don't do it within eyesight of a UFC fighter and his trainers.

ROUNDTABLE: With GSP seemingly cooling to a fight with Anderson Silva, do you see the fight happening this year? Hansen, Hobaugh, Hyden, Marsh, Perez, Williams, Pelkey and Penick

GSP_TB150_11.jpg
With Georges St. Pierre not seeming wholly interested in a fight with Anderson Silva, do you think that fight will happen this year if he beats Jake Shields at UFC 129?

RICH HANSEN, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

GSP is going to fight Anderson Silva after he dispatches Shields. Whenever GSP says anything that sounds less than 100% enthusiastic about the fight, it's a money grab, plain and simple. And considering the fact that fighters have near zero rights, good for him. He (and Anderson) deserve every cent that they can bleed out of Zuffa's coffers. And let's hope that instead of their massive paydays for this fight being a one-time deal, they set a new precedent for fighter salaries. Especially now that fighters have one less option.

ERIC HOBAUGH, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

I have never wanted to see a fight more than the GSP and Silva super fight. I am glad GSP has finally started to talk about the reality of what it will take to fight a much bigger fighter in Silva. I am also glad to see GSP is looking at moving up permanently, or that is how I am taking his comments. He has cleaned out his current weight class and so has Silva. It is potentially the largest pay per view fight in history. I get why the fans and the UFC want this fight so bad. I don't see this fight in 2011, though. I think it happens mid-2012.

FRANK HYDEN, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

I think there's a good chance of it happening eventually, but not this year. Assuming that GSP beats Shields, there's nothing for GSP left to do. Who does he fight? Everyone that comes to mind has already been manhandled by GSP. If GSP beats Shields, I'd personally love to see them match GSP against Nick Diaz, just to see what happens.

I think GSP vs. Silva could happen this year, but it would mean a major turnabout for GSP. I want to see that fight happen more than any other fight right now, but only if both guys truly want it.

GRIFFIN MARSH, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Call me cliche but GSP sounded to me like he wants no part of Anderson Silva. He listed many 'reasons' why he's opposed to the bout. Reasons=excuses. He should be willing to fight anyone, anywhere. I don't believe this fight will ever happen. Anderson Is the best fighter of all time and I think GSP and his camp know it's a fight he cannot win.

ANWAR PEREZ, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

Three weeks ago, I would have said that GSP fights Anderson Silva, no questions asked. Now, with the acquisition of Strikeforce, regardless of what Dana White says concerning Strikeforce being "business as usual," the UFC's options to make fights for both fighters are a lot more interesting. Though it's a fight fans want to see, the UFC themselves have to think that it's hard to have their two most dominant fighters face each other, knowing that one would (obviously) lose. Yes, I know it's a sport. But, looking from the UFC's perspective, I'm sure they are looking at all the options they have for the future, and wondering if this is a short term gain, or a long time investment. I think the fight will eventually happen, after a few months of stalling, and when it does, a new era in MMA will unquestionably begin.

ALEX WILLIAMS, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

If the UFC brass is willing to pay GSP a lot for it, I think he'll accept it. Even though it's not fair to expect GSP to move up 15 pounds, a lot of fans will criticize him if he refuses to do so. That social pressure (and, you know, millions of dollars) will push him into a bout with Anderson Silva.

MATT PELKEY, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

It seems less and less likely by the day, but let's just get past the St. Pierre-Shields fight at UFC 129 first. That's not my way of saying Shields has a chance at pulling the upset (he doesn't), but let's not forget that Georges St. Pierre is right in the middle of training camp to defend his Welterweight Title. That's a job he takes very seriously and is very focused on. Perhaps he's not actually sitting around every day drooling over the prospectsof a megafight with Anderson Silva like the rest of us keyboard warriors. Perhaps that's why he sounds cool to the idea right now. I imagine the question can get annoying. Maybe St. Pierre takes a huge breath in the middle of the Octagon following a victory over Shields and exhales knowing he's leaving the welterweight division for a new challenge. Maybe he has no intentions of making the move up in weight or even doing a catchweight bout with Silva. No one knows right now, but I we'll get a better idea if we ask him again in two or three months.

JAMIE PENICK, MMATORCH EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

I think there's a slight possibility we can see it this year. The way that happens is if GSP gets past Shields and immediately begins the process of bulking up for this fight. While he works on getting his weight up to make this shift in his MMA career, Silva can take out the last true deserving challenger to his Middleweight Championship in Yushin Okami in August. Then, the UFC can book GSP vs. Silva on the year end show in December/January. I think that's the best-case scenario for the UFC to put this together, and though I think it can happen, it's most likely that this fight happens early in 2012 now. I think it can happen, and I still hold out some hope to see it, but no one knows how things will play out for sure in the next year.

Coker interview: Strikeforce boss uncertain about Daley, Fedor and Barnett in the UFC

Scott Coker, the other guy in the UFC's purchase of Strikeforce, sat down for a lengthy interview with HDNet's Bas Rutten. Coker was grilled on many of the hot button issues that last Monday's conference call never hit on.

Rutten asked the Strikeforce CEO if he thinks fans will ever see Josh Barnett, Paul Daley or Fedor Emelianenko in the UFC. Coker said he didn't know (11:35 mark), but added that he hoped all three continued to fight with Strikeforce.

Other interesting points included:

Coker confirmed that the deal between Zuffa and SVSE came together quickly. He only informed Showtime of the sale one day before the news leaked on Mar. 12.

He denied the rumors that Josh Barnett will be removed from the Strikeforce heavyweight Grand Prix and replaced by Shane Carwin.

The Strikeforce boss joked about his first meetings with the UFC brass talking about Zuffa's 25-person marketing and P.R. staff. He brought along his two employees in those positions (4:40 mark).

Coker is excited about the new resources behind Strikeforce and growth possibilities which include a goal of pay-per-view by the end of 2011.

Surprisingly, even with a roster of 150-plus fighters, Coker says "business as usual" also includes signing new fighters in the future (9:00 mark).

Read into it anyway you'd like - Coker was asked if the purchase by UFC was a good or bad day, he answered by it's a reality (9:30 mark).

Showtime got the call the day before the news leaked 11 days ago, but Coker still hasn't had a chance to speak with M-1 promotions, Fedor's management team (13:25 mark).

Hopefully, Coker is involved in the MMA business at the highest level for years to come. He's definitely an asset, who puts the fans first. He did an amazing job turning a regional promotion, which held its first big fight in Apr. of 2009, into something worth buying for an estimated $40 million less than two years later.

Marquardt looks forward to ‘punching Bisping in the mouth’

There isn't a more thoughtful, docile guy in MMA than Nate Marquardt, but when it comes to Michael Bisping, he sounds like just about every other UFC middleweight.

Marquardt, who's been on the verge of a title shot for the last three years, wants a piece of the Brit.

"I would love to fight that guy, just to punch him in his mouth and shut him up. He's an ass," Marquardt told Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole. "He's a total punk, no respect. I don't like those kinds of people."

The spitting incident at UFC 127 pushed Marquardt over the edge.

"The crap-talking, whatever, that's one thing. Guys do things to hype up fights. And even guys who are just like that naturally, I don't hold that against them. But the fact that he goes and spits on an opponent's corner, that's so disrespectful," Marquardt said. "That's just not what a martial artist does and it's not what a sportsman does."

This kind of talk is completely out of character for Marquardt.

"I'd say 90, 95 percent of the time I like my opponents," Marquardt said. "I've always thought he was kind of an ass. He says disrespectful stuff, but the spitting is just a step farther, or two steps too far. It was horrible."

He still doesn't understand what sent Bisping into such a rage.

"It's one thing, the pre-fight stuff. Those are just words. They're not threats, they're not crossing the line. Making fun of his accent is something I would do to my buddy. It's not that big of a deal. Going around spitting on someone, I don't know," said Marquardt.

Marquardt has to take care of business first on Saturday against Dan Miller at UFC 128. Miller is filling in for Yoshihiro Akiyama.

Bisping's status is in limbo right now. The UFC plans on disciplining the Brit, but no official word has come down on whether that means he's kept away from the Octagon for any significant length of time.

I have been interested in this kind of truck for a long time now. The issue is, where to find detailed drawings, or pictures, that are not on an angle. I'd like to see some plan view pic or drawings. Seen in my area, So. N.H., on a ten wheeler, this baby is big!. The truck itself is not an issue but the lifting mechanisms and cable spoolers are a mystery. Hours before the biggest fight of his life, Jones subdues a robber

Eat your heart out Bob Reilly. Mixed martial arts is a lot more than a money grab viewed by savage fans; it can be a real life saver. Saturday afternoon in the streets of Paterson, N.J., Jon Jones and his trainers applied their gym techniques when they spotted a robber, chased him down and subdued him.

Thanks to Tracy Lee for the tip, photo link and video below

Jones, who was scheduled tofight Saturday evening in Newark for the UFC light heavyweight title, was on his way to meditate in front of a waterfall in Northern New Jersey. Jones, along with Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn, spotted the suspect breaking into a car and stealing some objects. According to the account given to Yahoo!'s Kevin Iole by Jackson, the group shouted at the robber and he took off.

Jones, Jackson and Winkeljohn pursued him on foot. The robber eventually fell and Jones, the youngest of the group at 23, caught up to the robber and tripped him to the ground again. Jackson said that Jones "foot swept" the suspect.

With the robber on the ground, Jackson began yelling to his fighter to stay away. Once the trainers caught up to robber, he tried to get up. Jackson said he "double-legged" him and jumped on top applying an arm bar. Winkeljohn went for the other arm to make sure he didn't have a weapon. In the scuffle, the robber was bloodied. The trainers said some blood got on their pants. Shortly afterward, the police arrived to arrest the suspect.

Less than an hour after the incident, Tracy Lee spoke with Jackson.

This is the second time in the last month an MMA-related move was used in a high-profile story to subdue a criminal. Joe Lozito, New York-area laborer, tackled an alleged murderer on a New York subway.

Reilly is the New York assemblyman leading the crusade to keep MMA events out of New York State. The ban by New York is a big reason why the UFC has placed several events just a few miles away across the Hudson River in Newark's Prudential Center. Jones faced Mauricio Rua -- and beat him with a third-round TKO -- in the main event of UFC 128, stepping into theOctagon roughly 7 1/2 hours after his run-in with the robber.

Jackson mentioned that Jones eventually reached that Paterson-area waterfall.

"It was an incredibly beautiful waterfall," said Jackson.

NCAA wrestling’s best: Five who should transition to MMA

You don't have to be a hardcore fan to know that collegiate wrestlers fare well in MMA. Just looking at fighters from cards this month, both Urijah Faber and Phil Davis made their names at the NCAA Division I level before moving on to MMA.

This past weekend, the NCAA Division I championships went down in Philadelphia, with Penn State taking the team championship, and the unbelievable Anthony Robles winning outstanding wrestler. Which wrestlers would make a good transition into the cage?

Jordan Burroughs: He won the national championship for Nebraska at 165 pounds, dominating every step of the way. No one had an answer to his double-leg takedown, and he already has the foot and head movement that will help him transition to MMA. He's already caught the eye of fighters, as Strikeforce heavyweight and two-time Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier called dibs for American Kickboxing Academy to train Burroughs.Seeing the job they did with Cain Velasquez, Josh Koscheck and Cormier, it would be a good home for Burroughs.

Bubba Jenkins: Arizona State's Jenkins had a rough road to the top. He transferred from 2011 champ Penn State to ASU, where he blossomed. He pinned PSU's David Taylor -- the wrestler who took his spot at Penn St. -- in the finals. After that, he said in a press conference that he can't wait to fight. "MMA is next.I'm excited about it.I got fast hands, fast feet. The camera's going to love me, I hope.I got a good smile for it. "

Not only does he already "get" selling a fight, he even gets merchandising. ASU fans wore shirts around Philly all weekend reading, "Free Bubba." Sponsors, MMA gyms and promotions should line up to sign Bubba.

Jordan Oliver: As the 133-pound national champion for MMA factory Oklahoma State, Oliver would find no shortage of mentors in the sport. He has a scrappy, fast style that would easily transition to MMA, but that will have to wait. Oliver is only a sophomore, and also reportedly has plans to pursue Olympic gold when his collegiate career is finished.

Ed Ruth: The Nittany Lion fell short of an individual title because of an injury that took him out of a quarterfinal match, but he made his mark on the 174 division. Ruth's technical abilities combined with his long, long arms could give him quite an advantage as a fighter. He just finished his freshman year, so MMA fans will have to wait a while before we know if Ruth wants to fight.

Zach Rey: A national champion at heavyweight for Lehigh, Rey is insanely strong. Like, throwing-around-285-pound-men-like-they-were-rag-dolls strong. He could improve his footwork, but that makes him no different than any other heavyweight wrestler transitioning to MMA. He also has another year of eligibility, so any plans for MMA have to wait.

Did you watch the championships? Tell us who you'd like to see fight in the comments below or on Facebook.

UFC 128 KO of Night: Schaub takes next step by stopping ‘Cro Cop’

Brendan Schaub is still a work in progress, but he's got something every fighter would love to possess -- one-punch knockout power.

After a rough, grinder of a fight, waged mostly along the cage, Schaub drilled Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic with a counter right hand. Cro Cop crumbled to the floor and Schaub landed one more finishing punch that bounced the Croatian's head off the floor like a basketball. Referee Herb Dean sprinted across the cage to stop the fight at the 3:44 mark of the third round.

Update: During Saturday night'spostfight press conference, UFC president Dana White said this was probably the last time the 36-year-old Cro Cop would be fighting for the promotion. He's lost two straight fights and lacks the explosiveness and size to compete at the highest level with the new breed heavyweight. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Schaub, has only been a pro since the middle of 2008.

It wasn't easy for Schaub, who was wary of Cro Cop's devasting left head kick throughout. The former Colorado fullback tried to keep the fight at close quarters. In most of the cases when Cro Cop tried a kick or moved forward with a punch, Schaub (8-1, 4-1 UFC) looked for the clinch or a takedown.

The wily veteran Cro Cop (27-9, 4-5 UFC) did some fine work of his own in those clinch situations along the cage. He landed some nasty short elbows including one in the second that caused Schaub's nose to start leaking blood. He also opened up a cut over Schaub's left eye.

The younger Schaub took the first two rounds, but in the second he had a point taken away for punches to the back of the head.

Schaub, the runner-up on Season 10 of "The Ultimate Fighter," lost in the final to another vet in Roy Nelson. Since then, he's scored three knockout finishes in four victories.

Schaub, who turned 28 Friday, asked Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta for the Knockout of the Night bonus. Through eight fights, his only competition is Erik Koch, who scored a first-round KO of Raphael Assuncao.

Update II: The UFC gave out two KO of the Night bonuses. Schaub and Koch each got $70,000.

UFC NEWS: Tito Ortiz vs. Ryan Bader heading to UFC 132 in July

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

OrtizTito_TB150_16.jpg
After getting injured during training, forcing him out of a bout this weekend with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC Fight Night 24, Tito Ortiz will now return in July.

According to a report from MMAWeekly.com, Ortiz will meet Ryan Bader at UFC 132 on July 2 in Las Vegas.

Ortiz looks to pick up a win for the first time in nearly five years, having gone winless in his last five fights while being inundated with injuries. He's fought just twice over the last three years, losing decisions to Forrest Griffin and Matt Hamill.

Bader began his MMA career by winning 12 straight fights, along the way winning season eight of The Ultimate Fighter and defeating Nogueira last September in his biggest win to date. However, Bader was defeated by newly crowned UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones in February, handing him his first career defeat.

UFC 132 is expected to feature a co-headlining rematch between Jon Fitch and B.J. Penn, though the event's headliner has not yet been chosen.

Penick's Analysis: This is one of the fights Bader talked about wanting, and the UFC gave it to him. If Ortiz can't pull out a miracle win in this fight, and he'll be a major underdog going in, then his time in the UFC is more than likely done. This is a big fight for both of them, as Bader has a chance to notch a signature win over a well-known name in Ortiz, while Ortiz can pick up a big, legitimate win if he somehow defeated Bader. It's a good fight for the UFC to make Ortiz earn a spot and to elevate Bader's profile should he win.

69 SuperBee - quick build.....

Here's a few pics of the latest project on my bench...............the Revell 69 Super Bee. This is going to be a quick build (by my standards anyway) that my good mate, 70Chally "challenged" me to do over a few beers . The deal was to build this one out of the box before our next local model expo ..... naturally I agreed, but I negotiated ( Beer ) and we agreed, I could lower it and wire the engine. So one month down the track here is the progress, paint needs sanding (bad dust), clear and polishing yet.

Not the best kit I've built but it scrubs up OK. I just discovered that there is no decal for the Bee logo on the front grille Super Angry. Might have to cannibalize one of the rear stripe sets and cut the Bee out of that!!!!

Thanks for looking

Tim

QUOTABLES: Joseph Benavidez plans on finishing Ian Loveland quickly at UFC 128 to make the broadcast

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

LogoUFC_150_838.jpg
"In my heart, there's only one UFC fighter that's allowed to be a barn animal, and that's Tamdan McCrory, 'The Barn Cat.' He's one of my favorite fighters. So I'm fighting to preserve his legacy in the UFC as the only barn animal. I'm going to take Ian Loveland, 'The Barn Owl,' out of the equation...

I've been waiting to fight in the UFC since I was a kid. I always knew it was going to happen when I was in the WEC. I just didn't know when. The fact that it's finally here, I'm just pumped about it. I can't wait...

I've got a great opponent in Loveland. A lot of people don?t know about him, but he's a super tough dude. He's been on a really good streak lately finishing guys and beating some top guys. He's also coming down from [145]. He's a gamer. He wouldn't be fighting me if he wasn't...

I'm not scheduled to be on TV, but I'm going to be on TV. I'm going to finish this guy. That's one of the differences. We're both finishers. The only difference is he also gets finished. That's what I'm looking to do. I think that was a strategic move by the UFC. Not to put me on TV knowing they could cheat the system and get me on TV when I get the finish. That's how I'm looking at it."

-Joseph Benavidez talks to Sherdog.com and jokes about wanting to take Ian Loveland's nickname away and finding a way to get this fight at UFC 128 on television.

Penick's Analysis: There's really no reason this fight shouldn't be on television. Benavidez is a legitimate top two or three bantamweight, and it's a shame this fight isn't scheduled for television while Luiz Cane vs. Eliot Marshall is. At the same time, Benavidez finds himself in a rough spot having lost to Cruz twice and being a teammate of Urijah Faber's. With the top fights not being in the cards for him, the UFC may not be willing to heavily promote him. But, like he says here, if he can finish this in quick and impressive fashion, his fight will be seen, and that's what he's got to do on Saturday night.

BELLATOR NEWS: Bellator announces three return dates in 2011 for the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Hollywood, Fla.

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

Logo_Bellator_150_258.jpg
Bellator will return to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla. three times in 2011, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The venue played host to the kick-off events in seasons one, two and three, and the organization has run there on three more occasions as well.

This year, they will head to the venue for their first special one-off summer event in between seasons, and then twice during season 5.

"The Seminole Hard Rock has been part of the Bellator brand since our very first show, and I'm thrilled that we will be producing a series of live, primetime Bellator events on MTV2 at the Seminole Hard Rock in 2011 and beyond,? said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney.

The dates for Bellator's three events at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in 2011 are Saturdays June 25, September 17 and November 19.

Bellator returning to L'Auberge du Lac Casino Resort in Lake Charles, La. for season four finale Bellator 45, season five's Bellator 52

Bellator Fighting Championships will return to the state of Louisiana two more times in 2011, as the organization announced that they have struck a two event deal with the L'Auberge du Lac Casino Resort in Lake Charles.

Bellator has run the venue once before, for last September's Bellator 31 event during season three. The casino will now play host to the season four finale event, Bellator 45, on May 21, and will also host a season five event, Bellator 52, on October 1. Both events will air live on MTV2.

"L'Auberge du Lac is a spectacular casino resort with a world-class, exciting venue that was sold out, standing room only in Season 3. I'm thrilled we will be going back twice before the end of 2011 to entertain our loyal fans along the Gulf Coast," said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney.

Tickets for Bellator 45 go on sale on April 8 at Ticketmaster.com, and with the event being held in the casino attendees must be at least 21-years-old.

Top 15 fighters acquired in UFC deal with Strikeforce

Future issues about high-level MMA fighters not squaring off anytime soon were quieted a bit today by the UFC's purchase of Strikeforce.

This afternoon, Dana White announced that Zuffa bought its top competitor in the U.S. He made a point of saying, with fighters contracts and a Showtime television deal in place, Strikeforce will operate under a "business as usual" header for the time being. How long that lasts is anyone's guess. UFC is planning on revealing more details to the media during a Monday teleconference.

The purchase should certainly excite fight fans. A deeper overall roster should eliminate the possibility of the best in the world being kept out of the same cage because of promotional issues.

Who are you most excited to see in the UFC? Here's a list of the top 15 fighters based on ability, mixed with the existing hurdles that could prevent them for stepping into the Octagon.

1. Nick Diaz, Welterweight (23-7, 5-0 Strikeforce, 6-4 UFC)
Outside the cage, the former UFC fighter is a wild man, but White is the first to admit he's a talented kid. The current Strikeforce welterweight champion hasn't lost since 2007. He's also one of the only welterweights outside of the UFC that fans would love to see take on Georges St. Pierre. In less than a month at Strikeforce's next scheduled event in San Diego on Apr. 9, he defends his title against Paul Daley. His brother Nate is currently fighting at 170 pounds in the UFC.

2. Gilbert Melendez, Lightweight (18-2, 8-1 Strikeforce)
He wasn't the first name on the lips of many MMA fans, but he probably should be. He's the most legitimate threat to any of the UFC title holders. Melendez's mix of wrestling, striking, strategy and stamina puts him immediately in the mix with Gray Maynard and Anthony Pettis to challenge for Frank Edgar's title. Just as important, he wants to fight the best and is an easy guy to manage.

3. Dan Henderson. Light heavyweight (27-8, Strikeforce 2-1, UFC 5-2)
With just one fight left on his deal, Henderson could be the first Strikeforce star to crossover. His 2009 exit from the UFC was more about ancillary concerns than his performance in the cage.

With his win last weekend over Strikeforce light heavyweight champ Rafael Cavalcante, the 40-year-old proved again that he's a top 10 fighter at light heavyweight. He could also go back down to middleweight if he wants to and the UFC thought that was the best spot.

Henderson told MMAWeekly it's a shocking move, but he's open to fighting for anyone.

"I don't know what to feel about it, I don't necessarily think, it might not be the best thing for the sport. But then again you're going to start being able to see all these match-ups that everyone wants to see. Who knows," Henderson said. "I had no plans of leaving, but I don't know what this is going to do those plans, but I have one fight left on my deal and we'll see what happens,"

Henderson is cool with White.

"I've never said anything bad about them. I always appreciated everything they've done for me and for the sport. It's just I was paid more money to go elsewhere, and that's what I did. Dana's the type that needs to talk a little smack if he doesn't get his way, but I've got no hard feelings about anything."

Strikeforce paid Hendo a healthy salary and allowed him to promote his clothing line, Clinch Gear. Hopefully, this time around the Clinch Gear issue can be resolved so we can see Henderson face the likes of Mauricio Rua, Rashad Evans, Quinton Jackson, Jon Jones and Lyoto Machida.

4. Alistair Overeem, Heavyweight (34-11, 3-0 Strikeforce)
If everything is cool on the pre-fight drug testing front, Overeem would be an awesome addition to the UFC heavyweight division. His pure power, look and striking is very promotable. An Overeem fight against Cain Velasquez, Brock Lesnar, Junior dos Santos, Frank Mir or Shane Carwin would be a seat-filler. That said, he'll have to drop the desire to compete in K-1 competitions.

5. Antonio Silva, Heavyweight (16-2, 3-1 Strikeforce)
This seems high, right? That's how good Silva is now and can be down the road. "Big Foot" is one of the biggest heavyweights in the world and is quickly developing one of the more well-rounded games in the division. His size overwhelmed Fedor Emelianenko and now that he's better managing the weight cut, he's got his stamina up to snuff.

6. Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal, Light heavyweight (7-1, 2-1 Strikeforce)
From a selling standpoint, King Mo has as much potential as anyone on the Strikeforce roster. His amateur wrestling background makes him competitive with any 205-pounder in the world. Once he cleans up his striking and learns how to manage his gas tank, sky's the limit. His personality and willingness to bond with the fans and haters alike, makes him a promotional dream.

7. Tim Kennedy, Middleweight (13-3, 4-1 Strikeforce)
Strikeforce is onto something here with Kennedy. Think Brian Stann, but a lot better in most facets of the game. The Army Special Forces veteran wants to fight all the time and he's a great role model to push to casual and non-MMA fans. More than any other division, the UFC's middleweight class is in need a new blood. Kennedy is a great pickup.

8. Fedor Emelianenko, Heavyweight (31-3, Strikeforce 1-2)

I'd love to have Fedor on top of this list, but the relationship is so frayed between M-1, his management team and White, it's difficult to imagine seeing him the Octagon anytime soon. He also needs to win some fights to rebuild his brand and reputation.

In his first comments about Fedor, White didn't seem optomistic:

"I don't see any irony in that," White told Yahoo!'s Kevin Iole, chuckling. "Even though Fedor is now under contract with Zuffa, I still have a hard time imagining he'll ever fight in the UFC. We'll see, but that's my bet right now."

"You know me," White said. "I'm as big a fan of this as anybody and I love making the fights that everyone wants to see. At the end of the day, it's all about making great fights and the fights the people want to see. That's what we're doing."

9. Jason Miller, Middleweight (24-7, 1-1 Strikeforce, 0-1 UFC)
Miller is far from the best fighter on this list, but he's the most media savvy. His MTV show "Bully Beatdown" and appearances all over satellite radio give him exposure more MMA fighters can't even sniff. He fought for the UFC back in 2005 against GSP, but simply wasn't ready for that level and was draining himself way down at 170 pounds.

10. Gegard Mousasi, Light heavyweight (30-3, 2-1 Strikeforce)

I'm still a backer of Mousasi. His calculated style and killer instinct makes him an attractive addition. He just needs to strategize a little more against top level fighters and must shore up his takedown defense. Don't sleep on the Armenian's future. UFC may talk to him about going back down to middleweight. An Anderson Silva-Mousasi fight would be dynamite.

11. Fabricio Werdum, Heavyweight (14-4, 3-0 Strikeforce)

We're still not sure what went down when Werdum was sent packing by the UFC back in 2009. His talent is undeniable. Werdum is a huge dude at 6-5, 245 and his jiu-jitsu is some of the best in the world for the weight class. The win over Fedor was no fluke and don't forget he avoided dangerous situations in getting the win over Antonio Silva too. Grappling matchups against Lesnar, Mir, Carwin and even Roy Nelson would be awesome.

12. Paul Daley, Welterweight (27-9, 1-0 Strikeforce, 2-1 UFC)

The villain of all villians. Whether Daley should've been cut from the UFC is still debatable. His questionable attitude is not. We all have bosses and sometimes have to swallow our pride to co-exist. Daley was supposedly posting today on the Underground Forum today that he needs to "think" about fighting for the UFC and making money for White. Frankly, it's not his decision. It's also pretty stupid to push for your options to only include Japan's DREAM, BAMMA, Shark Fights, Titan Fighting, Bellator and MFC.

13. Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, Middleweight (14-2, 4-0 Strikeforce)

Jacare is very intriguing. His submission game is off the charts and would be a great anti-dote against the UFC's wrestlers/grapplers like Chael Sonnen and Yushin Okami. As the Strikeforce middleweight champ, he controls his own destiny. If he keeps winning under the "business as usual" operation, he'll force the hand of the UFC to put him in the mix with the big company.

14. Rafael Cavalcante, Light heavyweight (10-3, 3-2 Strikeforce)

"Feijao" lost to Henderson, but it's just one fight. The guy comes to bang and has an excellent ground game. The UFC could certainly find a home for another huge, well-rounded light heavyweight.

15. Robbie Lawler, Middleweight (18-7, 2-3 Strikeforce, 4-3 UFC)

It would be shocking to see Lawler on the outside looking in. He's a favorite of White's. His style is exactly what fans and the promotion latch onto. Lawler's one-punch knockout power makes him a more talented version of Chris Lytle and we know he's got a job for life with the promotion as long as he remains around .500.

Others possibly in the mix: Josh Thomson, *Shinya Aoki, *Tatsuya Kawajiri, Shane del Rosario, Daniel Cormier.
